A 24-year-old woman has been killed in a three-car crash in Fife.

The incident happened on the A92, near to the Luthrie junction, at about 1am on Sunday.

It involved a white Audi A3, a grey Volvo V40 and a white Honda HRV.

Emergency services attended and the woman, who had been a passenger in the Audi, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Audi, a 27-year-old man, was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.

There were no other injuries.

The road was closed for a number of hours while inquiries were carried out, and reopened at about 12am on Monday.

Sergeant William Low said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died at this difficult time.

“We are carrying out extensive inquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.

“Anyone who was driving around the time of the incident and anyone with relevant dashcam footage which may assist is asked to contact police.”
