Advertising Standards
Commercial material must be legal, decent, honest and truthful. Advertising should comply with applicable UK advertising law, the CAP Code and relevant ASA guidance. See GOV.UK advertising codes guidance.
Labelling
Sponsored content, advertorials, paid partnerships, affiliate links and other commercial arrangements must be clearly identifiable before a reader engages with them. We should not present paid material as independent editorial reporting.
Editorial Separation
Advertising does not buy editorial coverage. Commercial proposals are reviewed separately from newsroom decisions, and editorial conclusions must not be changed to satisfy an advertiser.
Restricted Categories
We may reject or require changes to advertising involving regulated, sensitive or potentially harmful categories, including financial products, gambling, alcohol, health claims, political advertising, adult content or products aimed at children.
Technical Delivery
Any third-party advertising tags, tracking pixels or personalised advertising tools must be reviewed for privacy, cookie and security implications before deployment.
