Scotland Press
Cookie Policy
Last updated: 15 May 2026
Scotland Press uses cookies, local storage and similar technologies to run the website, remember choices and, if enabled later, measure audiences or support advertising. Under UK cookie rules, optional analytics and advertising technologies should not be set before consent unless a valid exemption applies.
Strictly Necessary Technologies
These are required for core site delivery, security, load balancing, fraud prevention, accessibility choices and saving your cookie preferences. They cannot be switched off through our banner because the site needs them to operate.
Cookie Preference Storage
The current site stores your cookie choices in browser local storage under sp_cookie_preferences. It records whether necessary, analytics and advertising categories are allowed, plus the date of the latest choice. This helps us avoid asking you the same question on every page.
Analytics
Analytics tools are off by default in this build. If we add analytics, the tool should load only after consent unless we have assessed and documented a lawful consent-free configuration.
Advertising And Personalisation
Advertising and personalisation cookies are off by default in this build. If ad networks, affiliate tracking or personalised advertising tools are added later, the banner, this policy and supplier list must be updated before those tools go live.
Managing Choices
Use the "Manage cookies" link in the footer to accept, reject or change optional cookie categories. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you use another browser or device, you may need to set your choices again.
Third-Party Content
Articles may link to third-party websites. If embedded video, social media posts, maps, analytics or advertising are added later, those services may set their own cookies or collect usage data. We should not load optional third-party embeds before consent unless a lawful exemption applies.
