Unemployment in Scotland rose slightly in the last quarter, according to latest figures.
Data from the Office for National Statistics shows the unemployment rate for people aged 16 and over was 4.3% between February and April this year.
This was 0.4% up on the previous quarter but below the UK-wide unemployment rate of 4.9%.
There were 119,000 people aged 16 and over out of work in Scotland in the latest quarter, according to the figures.
The employment rate for people aged 16 to 64 was 74.3%, which was 0.5% down on the previous quarter.
The figures show 2.663 million people aged 16 and over were in employment in Scotland in the last quarter.
Business minister Tom Arthur said: “It is welcome that Scotland’s unemployment rate remains below the UK, despite challenging economic conditions.
“The Scottish Government is investing in employability services to help support people into secure employment – but we are clear that action is required from the UK Government, particularly abandoning their destructive hike in employer’s national insurance contributions, which is acting as a tax on jobs.”
