Holyrood committee conveners will put the First Minister “under the spotlight” when they question him in a special session today.
Members of the Scottish Parliament conveners’ group will get their first chance to quiz John Swinney since his election victory in May.
Split into two sessions across this week and next, the meetings allow committee conveners the chance to raise key issues with the First Minister.
Holyrood presiding officer Kenneth Gibson – who is also chair of the conveners’ group – said the sessions are an “important public forum”.
Mr Gibson stated: “Committees are absolutely central to the Scottish Parliament’s work in examining and scrutinising the policies and actions of the Scottish Government.
“These evidence sessions offer an important public forum for conveners to put the First Minister under the spotlight and seek answers on the wide range of issues that really matter to people.”
He added: “In previous years I took part in these sessions as a Convener, so chairing it will be a new experience. I’m looking forward to it and want to make sure we get value from each session.”
