Two men have been arrested after heroin and cocaine worth around £800,000 was seized in an intelligence-led police operation.

The pair, aged 54 and 58, were held after Police Scotland raided a property in Marmion Crescent in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, on Tuesday.

The drugs and a four-figure sum of money were recovered.

The two men were expected to face court on Wednesday.

Sergeant Steven Brown said: “This is a significant recovery which highlights our ongoing commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy.

“We will continue to disrupt those responsible for the supply of illegal substances and remove drugs from our communities.

“We rely on information from the public and would encourage anyone with concerns about drug activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101, or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
