Stellantis' vehicle sales down 9% in 1st quarter

Vehicle deliveries of Stellantis, the world's third-largest vehicle manufacturer, fell 9% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025 as sales declined in North America.

The vehicle manufacturer's sales fell to 1.2 million this January-March, the company said in a statement on Friday.

In North America, the company's second-biggest market after Europe, sales fell 20% to 325,000.

Stellantis attributed the decline in the region to calendar effects, such as a long holiday season that slowed production, among other effects.

The company statement also pointed out that orders from customers in the North American region in March were at the best level since July 2023.

It also said that vehicle deliveries in Europe, the company's largest market, fell 8% to 568,000 in the same period.

Sales in China, India and Asia Pacific droppeed 20% and 15% in the Middle East and Africa region year-on-year.

On the other hand, deliveries to South America jumped 19% in the same period.

"Stellantis maintained its leadership in South America while benefiting from higher industry volumes, especially in Brazil and Argentina. In Middle East & Africa the 15% decline in shipments was mostly driven by the impact of import restrictions in Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt," it said.
